The diverse neighborhood of Lone Oak is one of McCracken County’s largest communities and includes a mixture of city and country living.

This neighborhood has four public schools, one private school, and an assortment of restaurants, small businesses and a choice of urban or rural living for its residents.

Lone Oak Road is lined with many eateries, office spaces and retail businesses. Some of the unique businesses along Lone Oak Road include Whitehaven’s Welcome Center, a restored 1860s Southern mansion filled with period furnishings and memorabilia of Alben Barkley, Paducah native who served as Vice President under Harry Truman, Parker’s Drive-In, a retro 50’s style drive-in restaurant and Dairyette, a community staple that serves American classics from hamburgers to hand dipped ice cream. Lone Oak is also home to Mercy Health – Lourdes, one of the region’s largest employers and a medical campus that provides an extensive array of medical specialties and technologies with quality often only found in metropolitan areas.

Look to the front lawn of Durbin’s Service Station and you will find a historical monument dedicated to the original oak tree that gave this neighborhood its namesake. Formerly the town of Lone Oak, the community voted to consolidate with McCracken County in 2008.

Lone Oak Road and the surrounding streets and neighborhoods host the majority of this community’s residents. It has a wide variety of homes available — from affordable to luxurious. Lone Oak hosts several neighborhoods within close proximity to the community baseball and tennis courts and schools including Lone Oak Elementary School, Lone Oak Intermediate School and Lone Oak Middle School. Homes nestled next to Rolling Hills Country Club enjoy easy access to the country club which offers a beautiful golf course, tennis courts, pro shop, Olympic size swimming pool and a clubhouse.

For a touch of Southern living, residents occupy the city outskirts. Businesses placed within Lone Oak’s rural landscape include Four Rivers Sport Horse Center, a state of the art equestrian facility, and Wurth Farms, a family-owned farm known for its homegrown strawberries in the summer and a wide selection of pumpkins in the fall.

Enter the community of Hendron — Lone Oak and you will find rolling hills and rural living. This section of the Lone Oak community is spacious and home to two schools, Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary School and Community Christian Academy, a non-denominational Christian institution. Placed just a few minutes from Highway 45, Purple Toad Winery is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a glass of award-winning sweet wine any time of the year.
