At the end of every summer, the United Way of Paducah-McCracken County hosts Project United, an annual community-wide day of service.  The event kicks off the agency’s annual workplace giving campaign that takes place throughout the fall. During this day of giving, teams of volunteers, many of them employee teams from local area businesses, complete projects at non-profit agencies across Paducah and McCracken County.  Past projects have included painting, landscaping, caring for children, and office support.

“Project United demonstrates what’s best about Paducah: people working together to make a difference in their neighbor’s lives. It gives me an opportunity to see how one person can make a difference.”
– WKCTC Business Program Coordinator Allison McGullion & Project United Volunteer

This is the ninth year for Project United.  This year’s event is sponsored by UBS. Approximately 500 volunteers will work 45 projects throughout the comminity. In addition to the service, a canned food drive initiative has been added to benefit Paducah and McCracken County’s local food banks. Each participating volunteer has been challenged to donate 20 canned food items.

“Project United kicks off the United Way’s workplace giving campaign,” says Anne Bidwell, United Way Community Impact Manager. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for donors to see – firsthand – how their investment pays off in the lives of so many families in our local area.  Our community is stronger when we work, give and Live United!”
