OUR PARTNER

Paducah Parks & Recreation ensures residents and visitors to Paducah always have something to do!  There are a variety of free activities available to individuals and families of all ages every single day of the year.  Fall is a perfect time to take a walk or ride your bike through the Greenway Trail. Snap some pictures of the beautiful scenery along the way! Fall is also a perfect time to try your hand at disc golf at Stuart Nelson Park or take your children to the playground at Noble Park.

In addition to these everyday activities, here’s a look at some special programming offered by Paducah Parks & Recreation this fall:

2018 Touch a Truck

Paducah Parks & Recreation’s invites kids, teachers and families to see and touch approximately two dozen types of special vehicles at its annual Touch a Truck Event.  This event has been recognized by the Kentucky Recreation & Park Society recognized Touch a Truck with the Outstanding Program Award. This year’s event will be held Friday, September 21st from 10 a.m. til noon at Barkley Regional Airport.

In past years participants at Touch a Truck have had the opportunity to get up close with a helicopter, fire truck, ambulance, tow truck, concrete mixer, dump truck, garbage truck, trolley, and police car.  This year children will have the opportunity to see airplanes for the first time. Participants will also get the opportunity to meet the people who operate the vehicles on a daily basis.

School and church groups are asked to call 270-444-8508 to pre-register.  Individuals do not need to pre-register.  Bus and public parking will be available.

Wooftober

Paducah Parks & Recreation will hold its 7th annual Wooftober on Saturday, October 6th at  Stuart Nelson Park off Park Avenue. Activities will begin with a Rover Run/Walk 5K. Registration for the 5K is at 10:30 a.m. with the run/walk beginning at 11 a.m. A $5 entry fee will be collected for all participants in the run/walk. Those fees will be donated to local animal charities.

Once again this year Wooftober will include a doggie costume contest and pet themed pumpkin carving contest. The dog park will be open before and after the event to let your family’s four-legged friend play.

There will be several animal rescue, educational, and service groups in attendance to provide a variety of pet-related information and services.  Puppies and dogs will be available for adoption.  Services available include micro-chipping, nail trimming, vaccinations, pet boarding, grooming and healthcare information.
